Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer fittings and installations?

At LuxeCraft Flooring, we specialise in retailing premium floor coverings and do not offer installation services directly. Instead, we collaborate with trusted, local professional installers who have worked with us for years. These third-party contractors handle all installations, and you pay them directly for their services. While LuxeCraft Flooring cannot accept responsibility for the work performed by independent contractors, we work closely with them to ensure you receive excellent service and, on selected products, free fitting or the best possible rates. Your installation guarantee is provided by the contractor, while LuxeCraft Flooring is responsible for the products you purchase, covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Can I install new flooring over an existing floor?

If your current flooring is securely fixed to the subfloor and in good condition, it may be possible to install new flooring over it. However, we recommend consulting with your fitter to ensure the best results.

Any Advice for Measuring Rooms for Carpet:

Measure Length and Width:

Use a tape measure to determine the length and width of the room.
For irregularly shaped rooms, divide the area into smaller rectangles or squares, measure each section, and then sum the areas.

Calculate Total Area:

Multiply the length by the width to obtain the area in square feet.
For rooms measured in sections, calculate the area of each section and add them together.

Account for Waste:

Add an extra 10% to the total area to accommodate cutting and fitting, ensuring sufficient carpet material.

Any Advice for Measuring Stairs for Carpet:

Measure Individual Steps:
For each step, measure the depth (tread) and height (riser).
Sum these measurements to determine the length of carpet needed per step.
Measure the width of the step to determine the carpet width required.

Calculate Total Staircase Area:
Multiply the carpet length needed per step by the number of steps to find the total length required.
Multiply this total length by the width of the steps to get the total area in square feet.

Include Landings and Winder Stairs:
Measure landings separately by determining their length and width.
For winder or curved stairs, measure each individually, noting the widest and narrowest points, and calculate the area accordingly.

Add Extra Material:
Include an additional 10% to your total measurement to account for cutting, fitting, and pattern matching.

What is LVT Flooring Made Of?

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) flooring is crafted from multiple layers that contribute to its durability and realistic appearance. It typically consists of a resilient vinyl core layer for strength, a high-definition printed design layer that replicates natural materials like wood or stone, and a clear protective wear layer that guards against scratches, stains, and wear. Often, LVT also has an additional backing layer for stability and comfort. This layered construction makes LVT both stylish and long-lasting, ideal for various residential and commercial spaces.

What is LVT Dry Back/Glue Down?

LVT Dry Back refers to Luxury Vinyl Tiles designed to be glued directly onto the subfloor. Unlike click-lock systems, Dry Back LVT requires adhesive for installation, providing a stable, long-lasting finish that’s perfect for high-traffic areas. Known for its sleek appearance and durability, LVT Dry Back is a popular choice for both homes and commercial spaces seeking premium, low-maintenance flooring.

To ensure a flawless installation of LVT Dry Back flooring, the subfloor must be completely smooth, clean, and level. Any imperfections, such as bumps or dips, can affect the adhesive bond and cause the flooring to wear unevenly over time. Proper subfloor preparation not only ensures durability but also maintains the premium look of your LVT Dry Back flooring.

What is LVT Click?

LVT Click is a type of Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring that features an easy click-lock installation system. Instead of glue, the tiles or planks interlock with each other, allowing for a quick and mess-free installation. This floating floor method makes LVT Click ideal for DIY projects, as it can be installed directly over many existing floors. With its durability, water resistance, and realistic design options, LVT Click is perfect for any room in both residential and commercial spaces.

What is SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) Flooring?

Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) flooring is a type of rigid core luxury vinyl tile (LVT) designed to resemble natural wood, stone, or tile while offering significant advantages over traditional materials. Constructed with a dense, stable core made from a blend of limestone powder, polyvinyl chloride, and stabilizers, SPC flooring is incredibly durable, dimensionally stable, and resistant to wear. Its popularity has surged due to its many benefits, including ease of installation, scratch resistance, and waterproof properties, making it suitable for areas with high moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens.

SPC flooring is also low-maintenance and available in a wide range of styles, colors, and textures, allowing for an attractive and realistic appearance without the downsides of natural wood or stone. Its click-lock system allows for straightforward installation, and its resilience to temperature changes makes it ideal for a variety of settings, from homes to commercial spaces.

What is Laminate Flooring?

Laminate flooring is a synthetic, multi-layered flooring product crafted to mimic the appearance of natural materials like wood and stone. Each plank consists of four layers: a protective wear layer, a high-definition photographic layer that replicates the look of wood or stone, a core layer for durability, and a backing layer for added stability. These layers are bonded together through a high-pressure lamination process, creating a product that is both visually appealing and long-lasting.

Laminate flooring is designed for easy installation, typically featuring a click-lock system, making it an ideal choice for DIY enthusiasts. Compared to solid or engineered wood, laminate is generally more affordable and requires less maintenance. It is also highly resistant to scratches, dents, and fading, making it suitable for high-traffic areas and busy households. With various styles, colours, and textures available, laminate offers a versatile and cost-effective solution for achieving the look of natural materials.

What is Engineered Wood/Real Wood Flooring?

Engineered wood flooring provides the look and feel of traditional hardwood, with a construction that combines durability and cost-effectiveness. Unlike solid hardwood, engineered wood consists of a core made from high-quality plywood or fiberboard, topped with a thin layer of real hardwood. This hardwood layer gives it the authentic appearance of solid wood, while the multi-layered core enhances stability and resistance to moisture and temperature changes.

Engineered wood is often a more affordable way to achieve a real wood finish, and it can be installed in areas where solid hardwood might not be suitable, such as basements or over radiant heating systems. With a wide range of wood species, finishes, and textures available, engineered wood flooring offers a beautiful, natural aesthetic while balancing practicality and budget.
